Those who sponsored the New York Building hosted a New York Day on October 8, 1898. On the eve of this day, members of the New York State Comission and representatives of other organizations in New York gathered at the Ak-Sar-Ben Coliseum for the Grand Carnival Ball.

The next morning, visitors were taken to the Trans-Mississippi Auditorium at 11:00 A.M., where the activities for New York Day began. The Innes Band provided Music, and addresses were given by New York Ex-Senator Warnere Miller and President Wattles. The Honorable Chauncey M. Depew, President of the New York Commission, also spoke at the event. After these activities, lunch was served at the Markel Cafe.

Members of the New York Commission included the above mentioned Chauncey Depew, as well as Vice President Jno. C. Graves; Henry B. Herbert, who served as Treasurer; Geo Creighton Webb; Abel E. Blackmar; John Jacob Astor; Jacob Amos; Chas. N. Stowe; and Alger M. Wheeler.
