The auditorium's dimensions were 150x115 feet, and 37 feet high. The cost of construction was $12, 358.29 dollars.

Musical Congress Day was on June 30, 1898. The feature of the congress was the Oratorio of Isaiah which was performed in the auditorium building that evening. The composer was Willard Patten, and he performed with 250 singers from Minneapolis. Many other musical acts performed in the auditorium as well. Such as organ recitals at 1:30 p.m. every day. Thomas J. Kelly and others played this three manual organ, which was an attraction in the auditorium.

During the time of construction, many letters were written to the daily paper because of the possibility of unsafe construction. Mr. Kirkendall, manager of the grounds and building department, denied these charges. He was sure the building was perfectly safe.
