June 13,1898

According to the Official Program of the TransMississippi Exposition, June 13th was Omaha School Day - Junior Grades.

For this day there will be a concert in the Grand Plaza starting at 10:30 in the morning. It will start with the "Manhattan Beach" march by Sousa and end with "My Country 'tis of Thee" by Wilhelm.

At 2:00 P.M. School Childrens Exercises will be featured in the Girls' and Boys Building. There will be a welcome address by Mrs. W. W. Keysor, a recitation of "Seeing Things at Night" by Virginia Merges a song by Gertrude Smith, a recitation by Lois Dorward and a recitation by Maude Huston.

At 6:00 p.m. there will be a concert in the grand plaza by the United States Marine Band under the direction of William H. Santelmann. Works by Weber, Gounod, Nehl and Braham will be featured. They will close with the Star Spangled Banner.

In the auditorium at 8:00 p.m. there will be a grand choral concert. Admission will be 25 cents. The Theodore Thomas Chicago Orchestra under the direction of Arthur Mees and three soloists will be featured. They will play the Overture, "Tannhauser" by Wagner, selections from Saint Saens and MacDowell and will end with "The Daughter of Jairus" by Stainer.

In addition, the following organizations were to meet in Omaha:
National Reform Press Association; Secretary J. A. Parker, Lousiville Ky. Meetings at Creighton Hall. About 150 delegates in attendance.
Danish Lutheran Church of America. About 200 delegates in attendance. Rev. P. Grarengaad, Brayton Iowa, Secretary.
