Crickethead

It awaits me
Shadows cloaking demon eyes
Under night's deceptive disguise
Anticipates me
Vengeance choking in its chest
Seeking justice before rest
It wants me
Wants my days to be ended
Like his and his descendents'
It haunts me
The deathcry piercing from the Great Below
Like the screeching of a banshee crow
It drains me
I cannot rest for the deathcry won't cease
And it's deranging me- piece by piece
It chains me
In this sleepless dungeon of my own delusions
Experiencing the torment of this retribution
I'm enslaved to it
My sanity plunges down a continuing chasm
Because I'm a prisoner of this cricket phantasm
I'm depraved by it
So please remember the status of my mental health
The next time you decide to smash a cricket yourself.

I detest crickets. Everything about them. I was up around 2 am one night and I couldn't find where this sadistic cricket was chirping from. It drove me insane. I thought I might restore my sanity if I wrote a poem.
