Library Information |
Library Cards • Services and Programs • Computer Room • Loan Periods and Fines • Rules of Conduct
The Baright Public Library serves all residents of Douglas County at no charge. The Baright Public Library is the home library to those residing in the Ralston School District. Everyone applying for a library card must show identification (driver's license, printed checks, bill mailed to you, car registration, property tax statement) with their CURRENT address on it. Parents must provide this identification when minors are registered.
A parent or legal guardian's signature is required if a child is in 6th grade or younger, so a parent must accompany their children to the library to apply for a card.
If you are in good standing with Omaha Public Library, we can place a barcode on the back of the large Omaha Public Library card after you apply for a Baright Public Library card. Then you may check out at the Baright Public Library, also. If you lose your Omaha Public Library card, you will need to go to any Omaha library to get a new card. THE BARIGHT PUBLIC LIBRARY CANNOT REISSUE OMAHA CARDS. If you lose your Baright Public Library card, you must come into the library to get a replacement; identification with current address is needed.
For their own safety, card holders are asked to present their library card each time items are checked out. This prevents others from checking out on your card, and there are fewer chances for mistakes.
Library cards are free to Douglas County residents and $60.00 per year to nonresident families. Free library service is provided to anyone over the age of 65.

Programs
To use a computer, ask to check one out at the main desk. Your library card will be held at the front desk until you are finished using the computer. Out-of-state/out-of-county residents may use the lab by providing their driver's licenses.
There is a time limit of ONE HOUR for general computer use and 30 MINUTES for Internet use. These limits are enforced when the lab is busy. The Internet is filtered on all but one of the computers. Only patrons aged 18 and up may use the unfiltered computer without a parental signature form on file. An adult must accompany children under ten years of age when using the Internet. Parents and guardians, not the library or its staff, are responsible for the Internet information selected or accessed by their children.
