Major projects have included:
- In 2005, $500,000 was donated by the Lozier Foundation, The William and
Ruth Scott Family Foundation and the Carmen and John Gottschalk Foundation
for Teen Library Centers at the renovated Washington Branch and the new South
Branch.
- At Shelf Life 2006: An Evening of Art and Literature, over $60,000
was raised to support the collection and programming like Summer Reading
Club, Read with Me, Prime Time, Omaha Reads and Ready to Read. Held
at the W. Dale Clark library downtown, this annual fund raising event
celebrates art and literature by bringing together Nebraska artists, authors
and library supporters.
- Since its founding, the Library Foundation has become a crucial private
supporter of the Omaha Public Library, working constantly to enhance
the collections and services of the library for the people of Omaha.
- An endowment fund has been established by the Library Foundation for
donors to make lasting gifts. This $1 million fund produces income to
provide ongoing support.
The Foundation is Helping the Public Library:
- Meeting community needs with a broad range of books,periodicals, reference
and other materials.
- Fostering lifelong learning and personal enrichment.
- Stimulating and encouraging interest in reading among children and
youth.
