Young author event to feature adventures and tall tales

Listen to stories of adventure and learn to write tall tales on April 13, 2 p.m., at Omaha Public Library’s Milton R. Abrahams Branch, 5111 N. 90th St. Six young authors will read their winning “Adventures of Gill” stories. These stories were written for the Omaha Children’s Museum’s contest offered in conjunction with Omaha Public Library and Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo’s Big Read Grant. Artwork created by the young authors to illustrate their stories will be on display.

Following the young author readings, a tall tale writing workshop will be presented. Tall tales can come from little ideas, as Michael Miller from Omaha Performing Arts will demonstrate. Children and adults are invited to try their hand at writing a tall tale and will have a chance to share their stories at the end of the workshop.
The event is sponsored by Friends of the Omaha Public Library and is free and open to all ages. Refreshments will be served.
