PWSA TO HOST TENTH ANNUAL RITES OF SPRING MARCH 29

The creative expression of women throughout the Omaha area will be highlighted Saturday, March 29, at the Annual Rites of Spring Celebration sponsored by University of Nebraska at Omaha’s Program for Women and Successful Aging (PWSA).

The event will be held from 1-3 p.m. at Omaha Public Library’s Milton R. Abrahams Branch, 5111 North 90th Street. Artists Marilyn Beig and Harriet Otis will be featured. Award-winning poet and teacher Megan Gannon will be the keynote speaker at the event. Her poem “List of First Lines” was selected by former Poet Laureate Billy Collins for inclusion in “The Best American Poetry of 2006.” PWSA poets will also read current selections from “Celebrate: A Collection of Women’s Writings, Volume XII.” Refreshments will be served.

In honor of Women’s History Month, PWSA will also feature Marilyn Beig’s and Harriet Otis’s art work at the O’Keefe Elevator Company, 1402 Jones Street, during the month of March.

PWSA is a cross-disciplinary, multi-institutional initiative that promotes the holistic well-being of older women; encourages an appreciation of older women: their dignity, cultural diversity, and multiple aspects of the aging process; and enhances the lives of older women through interaction with other women, researchers, educators, trainers, service providers and students.

For more information or to register for the event, contact PWSA at (402) 554-4897 or (402) 554-2292 or visit www.unomaha.edu/pwsa.
