Free Downloadable Hollywood Movies, National TV Programming

New digital video service includes movies plus thousands of hours of TV and original programming

Omaha Public Library celebrates National Library Week, April 13-19, with a new innovative service for its customers. Omaha Public Library cardholders now have virtual movie tickets—thanks to the latest service offered by Omaha Public Library. The library has launched MyLibraryDV, a revolutionary new digital content service that provides library cardholders with free Hollywood movies, network and cable TV programming and original digital video content downloadable right to their personal computers 24/7.

Accessible at omahapubliclibrary.org, the service offers a collection of classic movies including “As You Like It,” “The Last Time I Saw Paris,” “Night of the Living Dead,” “Phantom of the Opera” and more. Independent films such as “Wilby Wonderful,” and foreign films including “The Man of the Year” and “The Republic of Love” can also be downloaded.

Lifestyle and TV programming about cooking, travel, home improvement, health and literature are also available. Shows include “America’s Test Kitchen,” “Julia and Jacques Cooking at Home,” “Antiques Road Show,” “Today’s Homeowner with Danny Lipford,” “Rick Steves’ Europe,” “Caillou” for children and many more.
Omaha Public Library is one of the pioneering libraries to provide MyLibraryDV. “It is important that local libraries evolve with the community and provide entertainment and learning opportunities at every turn,” said Acting Assistant Director Maggie Tarelli-Falcon. “With MyLibraryDV, we now have a larger ‘virtual branch’ that can reach residents directly in their homes.”

Viewing is made fast and easy due to progressive download technology, which allows for viewing videos almost immediately. The videos have a seven-day checkout period and when the checkout period expires, the program automatically deletes from the computer.

All cardholders need to do to access MyLibraryDV is to install the download manager from omahapubliclibrary.org. Once MyLibraryDV is installed, follow the instructions to view the variety of free content.
