For its annual Great Books for Great Kids benefit, Omaha area Runza® Restaurants are donating 15 percent of their sales on Sept. 18 to Omaha Public Library for the purchase of children's books. "Runza® is a terrific Library supporter," said Rivkah Sass, Omaha Public Library Executive Director. "I'm asking everyone to be a library hero and eat Runza®s on Sept. 18." Last year Omaha Public Library received almost $5,000 from Runza®. The money helped purchase much needed books for preschool children. In 2006 over $24,000 was raised to benefit reading initiatives for children in communities with Runza® locations and since 2003, almost $90,000 has been donated. Runza® Restaurants has been a longtime advocate for the importance of literacy at a young age. "Reading is vital to lifelong success and provides an excellent opportunity for families to spend time together," stated Becky Perrett, Director of Marketing for Runza® National, Inc."Donating funds for books and promoting literacy is an important endeavor for children and the community."
