Crazy Horse featured in Omaha this fall

As part of this year´s One Book One Nebraska project, photographs of the western plains of Crazy Horse will be on display through Oct. 31 at Omaha Public Library´s W. Clarke Swanson Branch, 90th & West Dodge Road. Bill and Jan Moeller shot the photos for their book “Crazy Horse: a photographic biography.”

One Book One Nebraska 2007 is showcasing Mari Sandoz´ book “Crazy Horse: the Strange Man of the Oglalas.” Much of Sandoz´ writings portray the challenges Native Americans faced in the wake of the expanding frontier and the spirituality of the Oglala Sioux.

Omaha businessman and author Lee Myers will host three book discussions featuring Sandoz´ book and the Moeller´s western plains photographs. Myers will lead the first two discussions, one on Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. and the other on Oct. 13 at 1 p.m., at Omaha Public Library's W. Clarke Swanson Branch. He will lead the third discussion on Oct. 23 at 6:30 p.m. at The Bookworm in Countryside Village. Myers´ play “Killing Crazy Horse” was staged at the Edward Albee Great Plains Theatre Conference in Omaha last year.
