Looking east on Douglas Street from 18th we see what still looks like residential area in the foreground. Many brick businesses blocks have sprouted up along Douglas. The German Catholic Church is located on the northwest corner of 16th & Douglas. It was dedicated Christmas Day, 1868. The tall building at the foot of Farnam Street to the right is the former Herndon House / International Hotel, which by 1869 became the headquarters for the Union Pacific Railroad.
