This image looks east down Capitol Avenue from 20th. If taken in 1867, the place the photographer was standing would have been the location of the Territorial Capitol. Most of the lots in the foreground are clearly residential. The home with the cupola at the bottom right is the home of John McCormick which was built prior to 1866. The tall building by the river on the right is the Herndon House hotel, located at 9th & Farnam. In 1869 it would become the headquarters for the Union Pacific Rail Road.
