The Pioneer Block, built on the north side of Farnam between 11h & 12th Streets circa 1860, was the first large brick block in Omaha. It housed a variety of businesses, which in this image, taken about 1868, include Charles F. Goodman, druggist, P. H. Sharp, hides and leathers and A. E. Simpson, cigars. An early territorial legislature held its sessions upstairs. The block burned down April 22, 1877.
