FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

First Presbyterian Church

The First Presbyterian Church, organized by The Reverend George Bergren on June 14, 1857, was dissolved in June 1860. The Rev. F.M. Dhimmick was sent as a commissioner of the General Assembly and organized the Second Presbyterian Church of Omaha, Nebraska Territory. The date of organization was December 23, 1860. The original Second Presbyterian Church is the direct lineal ancestor of the present First Presbyterian Church. By an act of the legislature of Nebraska, it became the First Presbyterian Church in 1887.

The pictured church building located at 17th and Dodge Streets NW corner was dedicated in December 1869. The building was sold to Arthur Brandeis and vacated by the congregation on May 26, 1915.
